ARP "Group Buy" Now through March 6th.

We are having a "group buy" on ARP Head and Main Stud kits for the GM and BMW engines. Use coupon code ARPSALE for $10 off each kit. We will place an order March 7th.

I am interested in both So it is necessary to re-torque the main studs after the engine has been run ? And I will be using a scraper

But for the head studs ,is there an interval or after warm up or break-in?

Found it on page 20 in the ARP catalog.

Because the head gasket will compress upon initial torquing, make sure studs
and bolts are re-torqued after the engine has been run.

      No gasket, no retorque.

Reason why I need to build a run bench for my engine... royal pain in the arse to re-torque in the car!

Isn't retorque only for traditional gaskets not shim gaskets?

                  Ok thanks Ben
The only reason I asked is I want MLS gaskets also and the info conflicts
No re-torque for MLS But re-torque for ARP studs
Nate just happened to post before I did

Its not really conflicting since ARP states that it is due to the gasket compressing after a heat cycle. If the gasket company says this is not necessary for their gaskets, then thats pretty much what it is. Their gasket doesn't compress like graphite. Beyond that, I didn't find where anyone said re torquing MLS or Copper gaskets would cause a problem. You would be back to where you were and nothing is harmed from it.
