What can I use as a cam hold down tool?

    little late on the response but i'll add it in anyway. when you bend your keystock like that, the gears may be frozen in place. i have done a number of things to loosen them up before.

    1st you put pressure on the gears/belt and tap on them with a plastic hammer until you see the gear move. if that doesn't work, i have also used a large screwdriver and wedged it between the gear and the carrier and i would wiggle it back and forth(as to pry the gear off) until i pushed the actual gear out about 1/2 and inch, then simply tap it back into place with the plastic hammer.

    do that about 3 times per gear(using penetrating oil if necessary) and go back to the first procedure if need be. i haven't met a set of 94+ gears yet that hasn't given into that.

      Or if you don't have a plastic (dead blow) hammer, a regular hammer and a piece of 2x4 work too.

          Sometimes its necessary when the vehicle your working on is the only one around that you are able to use to go get tools/parts. Luckily I don't have that problem, lol.
