    Need more LQ1 Help

I have an opportunity to buy some LQ1 heads that have been built up. Ported Polished, new springs and valves included. Heads have been decked (don't know how much)

I'm looking for any dimensions you can give me to confirm that said work has been done.

I'm assuming the heads are based on a 1995 head design as he was also selling some early LQ1 specific parts.

The guy claimed to have $1800 into them...
Unfortunately I'm not dealing with the guy that did the work, I'm dealing with the guy he sold them to... I know the guy that bought them, he is a good friend, but in order to get them for myself I offered him more than he paid.

I will be taking a digital verier with me to pick them up, I'm looking for any port and valve sizes I can get, along with any other measurements that will tell me they are reworked. Stock spring rates would be nice too, but I don't know if the new ones have a spring rate labeled on them.

    Thanks

    Jamie

OK, I picked them up tonight...

      Tell me what I got...

Based on 95 heads, how ported do they look?
Do the valves, springs and retainer clips look like anything special or stock equipment?

Should have got 96 heads. They flow better.

They don't look very polished at all.

Yeah they are far from polished, lol

I got these because they came up "cheap"

But I'm really starting to feel like they aren't what he says they are...

Averything about them seems stock... the guy that sold these to my friend told him there was $1800 worth of work into the 2 of them... if someone paid $1800 for that porting job, they got ripped off!

Those are stock springs. New wouldn't look that bad either.

              Exhaust ports are 1.835" x 1.655"
              Intake ports are 2.110" x 1.210"

Intake Valve port is 1.260" dia
Exhaust Valve port is 1.078" dia

The heads have been decked, but I don't know where to measure to find out how much

OK, still haven't decided if I am keeping these heads or not...

But I have a new question...

Will 96-97 Heads bolt up to a 95 LQ1 block and cam carriers? Or would i have to upgrade to the 96+ cam carriers as well??

                  Yes,

All the heads and Cam Carriers interchange, according to Which Cam carriers you need.

If you have a 95' then 94'-97' housing is the same, different cam gears on the 94'-95' to the 96' to 97'.

97 carriers use 33mm lifters. 96 and older are 35mm.
