    96-97 Cam Retard

    Hello

Has anyone done the exhaust retard on the 96 or 97's yet, If so how does it work with an Automatic Trans?

    Thanks in advance

      Hello

Don't know about that, but mine is an automatic, I have seen some post's that talk about standard transmissions and automatics, thats why I asked about the automatic.

They are all automatics. You would have to experiment with the cam timing, but do not run 13 degrees retarded on it as the stock exhaust cam is already 3 or 4 degrees retarded compared to 91-95 I believe. Intake is advanced in comparison as well. Being an automatic doesn't mean that changing the cam timing won't be beneficial, though I would consider more advance on the intake and a little more retard on the exhaust. Ill know what that cam timing does on the 91-95 in the next few days.

Tried out my new cam timing tool today.
A major improvement on the bottom end!!
Assuming there is a factory +4 int & -4 exh. already set from factory.

My settings by the new cam tool:
intake +2 (which is +4 crank degrees) then add in the factory +4 = +8 total

exhaust -2 (which is -4 crank degrees) then add in the factory -4 = -8 total

          So: +8 intake
          -8 exhaust

          Correct if im wrong.

So is this the best setup for 96-97 3.4 DOHC automatics? Thanks
