First off, welcome to the site.

Secondly, looks very interesting! Any reason why you put the carb up on such a raised box instead of closer the the plenum top? Seems like you'd have much better clearances. Will that even clear any kind of hood?

I spy two of these upper plenums. A 2.8 and a 3.1 plenum

The box is for throttle clearance, i doubt it would clear the hood with carb flat on the plenum, these setups are for derby cars,(shoulda mentioned that). Although i want to take the next one to the drag strip before i gets smashed cuz these buggers scream!

I also got a pipe dream of using a w body(lumina) subframe with one these setups on a ratrod someday. Probably use a 3100sfi for that though.

I thought they might be for an open class dirt track car or run what you bring class roundy round beater

Why a little 2bbl q-jet? Put a 4bbl 750 q-jet on it and see if it holds together.

A 750 would have no velocity. A 440 is probably a bit much for a gen 2 but for a 3500, it is what I would start with. I wouldn't even consider it by modding an upper though, only a lower.

A 750 would turn that motor into a giant fuel pump LOL

Trust me the two barrel is plenty and can raunch these motors, specially with no rev limiter

Sappy: how would you go about modifying the lower? Getting something machined? I have often thought about putting old iron heads/ intake on a mpfi engine anyone tried that?

And if anyone considers doing this i would suggest gettin the plenum and lower intake runners steamed out.
