Sony Car Audio?

All of the Sony stuff in my car works just fine! CDX-M600 HU, with the cool flip over deal from the first year it was out, but the amps and electronic crossover in the trunk are the older style before Xplode (the gold colored ones). I still like Sony, I have too, after all I do have a PS2 and a Vaio laptop, lol.

I have all sony home electronics Speakers, TV, DVD, CD, MiniDisc, Discman, etc. I love them all, and I have no plans to change, they've never let me down. I actually considered Sony Mobile electronics, but xplode came out (didn't care for) and I fell in love with others first.

Sony home electronics are quite good. Obviously their TVs are top of the line for pic quality for years, their audio stuff is good (my friend has a 100w x 5 d.digital amp, one of the first ones that were better quality.. its really pumps out the volume). I've got a $300 Sony cassette deck (dolby S NR) and a 200 disc cd player (which i never use anymore :P )

Yeah, I just bought a Sony bookshelf stereo... and this computer monitor is a Sony. My headphones are Sony... my portable cd player is Sony.

But you won't find me using Sony car equipment.

Most Sony electronics are awesome. I still have a discman I bought in 1994. Besides my (old assed) Marantz receiver and JBL (Junk But Loud) speakers, all my home audio gear is Sony. I have a 32 inch sony trinitron. I'm looking at a Sony ES Receiver for my upcoming home theater, mostly because one can get an entry level unit for under $500 and it will handle a four ohm load.

Gotta have four ohm stability: I've been lurking at the Parts Express tech talk board and decided I should tackle some DIY home theater speakers in the next 8 months or so. WTMW center channel, MTM left and right, and bipole surrounds will all be four ohms.

Sony Xplod gear is designed for people who hear with their eyes, kinda like Audiobahn. I could care less about chrome. I'll take a plain old aluminum heatsink over chrome/ hideous paint schemes any old day of the week as long as it sounds good and lasts a long time.

Sony has a few good head units and the old Mobile ES gear is good stuff, but the Xplod stuff they unload to the uninformed at Wal-Mart or Best Buy (see the thread I linked to) is to be avoided.

When I used to work in a tv/vcr repair shop (before DVD's were mainstream) we only had 2 Sony products come in while I was there. A tv that had some strange problem with it (don't remember what it was) and a vcr that needed cleaning and some pivot point in the tape path needed lubricated.

i generally don't buy anything where they spell words wrong on purpose, Xtreme, or in this case Xplod (Xplode?).

Pioneer DEH-P77DH headunit, Kenwood eXcelon 6 1/2" 2 ways with custom instalation into front doors, Kenwood eXcelon 6x9 3 ways in the rear deck, Kenwood eXcelon KAC-7201 2 ch. 800w amp, JL Audio 10" W0's. The high range is supprisingly clear for no amp on the interior speakers.... just havne't had time to get one and install it since I've been toying too much with my V8 cars.....

while not in my car at the moment i ran a single one for almost 2 years than last spring i bought a second one. then i decided to go a dif route for SPl competition and that sub in still in car. that is an elemental designs 15A.22. lovely sub it is.
though the alum is also lovely.

Indeed, the titanium series is even crazier, have you checked out www.eclipse-web.com lately? Check the Titanium Pro series. I think the removable magnet/pole peice is a bumb-fuck idea, but what ever they will still Rip-Shit-Up.

titaniums do not even interest me. specially for the price they want. when i bought my alum i had 3 choices. boston pro, diamond audio macdaddy and the alum. since i was unable to hear the boston it was out. had heard the previous version of the alum in a couple cars. the original with single 6 ohm coils. and fell in love. the diamond sub was close but ended up with the alum. have not had alot of equipment but the alum is definitely a keeper.
i have heard about the new trick eclipse is doing but have not looked at it closely though.

Did you have a 6 ohm alum.? I could only get them to work in pairs. Parallel and mono on a stereo amp. Praticularily a planet audio zetar. 2x250 @ 4 Ohms RMS or 1500x1 @ 1.5 Ohms Theoreticaly. At competition we got 151.0 dB with 2-15's in 3 cubes, rear fireing, sealed. in a Mazda MX-3 Precidia. Stock electrical w/no sound damping, pretty wild. My buddy has moved that same system into his 2002 GTP. Haven't heard it, but it's supposed to be LOUD 145+ on a cool day for sure.

I have a Sony Xplode amp. Not that I chose it myself, but it's too long a story. At any rate, it's a 300w (75 x 4) and it powers my interior speakers, which are MTX something or other in the front doors, and these cool looking blue Kenwood 7 x 10s in the rear deck. Got two square Kicker Solobaric 12s in the trunk with a 2 channel, nearly 1000w Rockford amp to power them.

And gee, um, I think there might be a TAD BIT of unbalance somewhere. . . .

A little un balance maybe. But consider that it takes a great deal more energy to regenerate low frequencies than high frequencies. So, not as unbalanced as you would think.

Oh yah, 7 x 10's? Don't you mean 6 X 9's?

No, I mean 7 x 10s. I HAD these 3 way Infinity Reference 6 x9s back there, but um.....they blew up Literally shattered. So my friend put in the Kenwood 7 x 10s he had laying around.
