So, why is it apart, you ask? Time for the carnage pics...




Seems I blew the tranny... After talking with Ben, I may do with either a weed eater motor or a chainsaw motor as a replacement. The 2 little 12v motors just aren't as fun as they could be. Although I did find a site that talks about modifying these things to 18-24v systems, and thus going from 5mph to 8 and even 12mph.

And now the other pics... Remember all that stuff that I keep mentioning is in my basement?




First pic shows the 3500 on the stand and a 3100 mostly assembled on the ground. Second pic shows yet another 3100 lock on the ground and the 4.3L Vortec on the pallet. Plus all the parts to go with all the engines. Oh, if only I had the time and money to work on them...

bah, the brigs motors are alright but pricey to build. id put a 3 cyl sprint motor in it. that or a bike motor.

Yeah, the briggs are expensive for racing. Get the 5.5hp ohv honda ripoff (chinese). Its the econobox engine for go karts. Still, I recommended the chainsaw engine because even 50cc would be mass overkill for that thing. I bet it weighs 20 pounds.

HAA!!!!!!!! Shipping weight is 75.5 lbs, so figure 10lbs of box and this thing comes in at ~65lbs easily.

lmao... the brigs engines are nice and light though and make a good bit of power so its obviously the "dream build" engine, lol

a motorcycle engine is just to big and heavy, if anything a cart engine which would be sweet

I think I've seen some videos of that engine Andy. Guy just has tooo much time on his hands!

I'm still thinking on what I could do. If I have to add some metal supports, I can do that as well to stiffen up the body some. And I have to find something that will fit easily in the space that I have (ie, the trunk area). If I start messing with it more (winter is coming around), I keep everyone posted.

some of those model plan engines are pretty powerfull... just remember to pick up a fuel tank when you go to the hobby shop, lol

about 8 years ago you could buy a Briggs 206cc RaptorI for around $250.. made like 6.5 HP or so stock.. with a few mods i pushed mine to around 12 HP. put my old go-cart up to about 65MPH. (Header, bigger carb, port work, shaved head, cam) Good times!

Heh, 65 pounds doesn't need a lot of power. If you want to put some power to it, just get a go kart and be safe.

12hp out of a raptor (5hp) must have been an open or IKA motor. WKA motors don't allow any real port work or larger carb. The OHV 1 cylinder motors can be wicked in the open class though.

You can't be serious? Plastic death trap? How the hell will you steer with those plastic wheels at any decent speed? Going to sit it on a metal frame? Who will be driving this?!? LOL
