I have never spun the tires in my 3800SC Fiero. With %60 of the weight on the rear there is no way to break them loose. If you do watch out. I have done many 360's because the rear got out.

couldn't believe how well it stuck, the whole ride home i pushed it further and further and i ended up having to completely floor it before the tires would spin

I told you fiero's are awsome. I am glad to hear of another happy fiero owner.

its home and im in love <3
stuck solid to the road through fresh snow with almost bald rear tires right up until i hit the brick streets here in oakmont (coming from outside monroeville off 22 for those who know pittsburgh) and then the whole way up to my street i was tryin to keep it straight, it was great, haha, i love it
even without power steering it does great... needs an alignment and tire balance though, i'll prolly throw it up on the rack next friday and get it inspected all in one shot... might throw new tires on the rear but the guy gave me one that has some decent tred left for the one thats nearly bald
great guy, even helped clean out the blower motor so i would have heat on the way home, thing was packed with what looked like carpet backing, lol
i love this car!!! never thought i would be so happy with it and there are things that need fixed but its great... i found you really have to give it throttle and once you REALLY push it the thing gets up and goes pretty well, perhaps better than my POS DOHC neon (has an exhaust leak)... which is now for sale

cant since i just have yahoo...... wiring in itself isnt hard, the hard part is making sure all the wires go to the right spot and getting them there from the beginning which is usually a PITA

go to fiero.nl and going the forum there the amount of info is crazy. the wiring is not as hard as you might think.Originally posted by El_Diablo View Postcool, sounds good... biggest thing im worried about is wiring and getting it all to mate up because to be honest i dont really wanna go custom here, maybe i'll just go with a 2.8 hybrid and turbo it... who knows!! again, biggest thing is tuning and wiring

as far as the PS, its easier to find fieros in yards than it is to find a 'vette around here, lol
Oh boy, your making me think. Damn, its been while since I did a tranny swap write up and of those were for FWD's (there are minor differences, explained later).
Basicly, you need a good tranny first, ideally a 282. Also, you need manual tranny mounts (I believe these are different between the auto & stick), CV axles, fiero specific shifter cable (2 cables vs. 1), fiero specific 5 speed shifter (the 4 speed stick shifter wont work), 5 speed clutch (not a 4 speed, throw out bearing is slighty different), fiero master & slave cyls (these are the same on all fiero's), SS brake line to connect the cyls. (not sure the size but should be easy to find and fab).
Easiest way to go about the swap is start by pulling the shifter & cables out and tossing aside. Next, go into the engine bay and disconnect anything to do with the auto trans. Later on you will want to do some wiring (for the back up lights and park/neutral clutch safety switch). Then jack then rear end up and pull the wheels, and undo the the cv axle nut, and seperate the lower ball joint (this is so you dont have to get a reallignment when everthing goes back together). After that, pull the strut out & away of the cv axle. Pull cv axles. Next, finish disconnecting and pulling the tranny. Put the clutch in and mount the new tranny. Important note: there are 2 sets of slots to align the tranny mounts on the subframe, the auto should be on the inside and the manual should go on the outside. The mounts are BOLT IN so that makes things real easy. After rebolting the subframe, put the new cv axles in and and recconect the struts/ spindles. While you have the car in the air, nows the ideal time to hook up the slave cylinder and lines to the front. When the cars back on the ground, install the new shifter and cables. Important note: when using a FWD tranny in a fiero, remember that where the shifter cables connect to the tranny the "shifter arms" (sorry, its almost midnight and I cant think of the technical name), the "shifter arms" MUST be flipped 180*. Install new pedal assembly & mater cyl. & bleed the system. Now you should be able to technically drive the car but I'd go ahead and do the wiring as I wouldnt want to do all that work & accidently start the car in gear or back up & have someone ram me 'cuz my lights werent lit (both do happen).
That pretty much it, now, can this write up be made into a sticky or put somewhere permanent? From this write-up it may seem like alot of work but it can easily be done in a weekend if you have everything ready to go.

P.S. I know 'vette's are getting scarce as hens teeth, but you asked.

lmao!!! i know what a chevette is, doesn't mean i dont like calling them 'vette's
that kinda made my day, lol
plan is to drive it, pick up the 91 z24, get it to where its running right and then work on the fiero

Chevette not corvette!!!!!! Google it to see what a chevette is! Honestly dude if you bought the car just drive it for a while. It seems pretty straight for a car of that age.Originally posted by El_Diablo View Postso as far as mounting the trans... what will i need for a 5spd conversion? not talking about the pedal assembly or anything, just wanna know about getting it in and to a point it will work.... guessing i could just unbolt the mounts for the 4 and bolt in mounts for a 6? or are they welded on?
