what all is necessary to adapt an engine to a tran

what all is necessary (besides the adaptor plate) to adapt an engine (for example, one of the 60* engines) to a transmission that it was never even dreamt of being matched to? personally i would think that an adaptor to bolt the engine-to the trans, as well as an adaptor to bolt a flywheel that matches that trans-to the engine itself. is this correct/will this work or am i way off?

What are you wanting to bolt it to? Or should I say, thinking of bolting it to?If you got the money and the right connections, anything is possible.

V8Archie sells an adapter that bolts GM FWD tranies to Chevy Small Block engines.. this is required for his V8 swaps in Fieros... its about 1 inch thick and has the tranny bolt pattern on the tranny side and the SBC pattern on the engine side. Works rather well. Requires some engineering to line it all up though.

V8archie is about the last place I would send someone for custom fab parts. I wouldn't even mention him in a no doz thread.
