I felt the same way when I was looking for a flexible light for my porting desk and saw the price. Then I saw Lumina and lol'ed.

I bought 3 movable arm desk lamps for $18 each with free shipping. I was hoping for an LED light that I could clip to my porting box, but I don't know that any have a long enough flexible shaft since they are usually for books. Ill be set though.

What I have but they list it as $40 now. I remember in store I gave $19.99 a few years back.

Drop one of these bad boys in it, 100watts output but only 26 watt draw.



LED bulb technology for AC home use aint up to par yet and they tend to not act as well as the ones made for DC use like in cars. We still install a ton of them at work cause they are the newest and best but now after they have been out for a few years are starting to get more and more calls to pull them cause they are not what the customer expects. Lowes does sale screw in LED bulbs but you can't say you haven't been warned when it burns out early due to the electronics in the bulb not able to handle the small surges every AC system has.

Personally, I think fiber optic distribution from a single light source is the way to go for homes. The reduced fire hazard alone is worth it. I know it is still in development for automobiles.

Man, I could design and built a custom lamp for a fraction of that. Who the hell buys those things anyways? Oh wait, I bet one could find that lamp on every desk in the Whitehouse.

Personally, I think fiber optic distribution from a single light source is the way to go for homes. The reduced fire hazard alone is worth it. I know it is still in development for automobiles.

Scientists have figured out how to slow down light to a speed of meters per second. With that technology, light could be captured and stored in a 99.999% reflective container and tapped for later use. Of course, the gov will keep it for a weapon, like always.

You like it until you have to install it.

From an electricians viewpoint I think it will go over about as well as low voltage lighting did.
