The Ford 3.8L V6 like what is in the windstar or the T-Bird & many others

Is it a 90 degree or 60 degree?

What is a safe redline for this engine?

What is the torque and HP ratings for this engine?

Is it a reliable motor?

Is it a pushrod or DOHC or what the hell kind of config. is it?

My dad has a 96 windstar and my G/F has a 91 T-Bird I just run the total hell outta the van.

proably 90 degree. most verything goes to 6K nowadays a guy at work his tach didnt have a red line, went to 6 and ended. not sure on torque, but in the mid 90's they were 160hp, i think the 2000+ ones are 200hp. pretty sure its a pushrod motor, and since its ford, it should be reliable. ive never really had problems with ford stuff unless i tried to do something to it.

looking for 3.8 swap? the v-6 fire birds were 200 hp motors. 3.8' scince the camaro had a 3.4. i dont thing the rwd motors go into fwd cars well, but a lot of buicks and the bonnevile and late grand prix have the 3.8, some Supercharged, those are 240 hp.

Why are you asking about a Ford engine on a GM site? The best any of us can do is guess most likely. I'd try going to a Ford site to ask this question. Otherwise you'll never be sure if the answers are right or not.

But, to answer your question...

Its a 45 degree engine
Its safely spin up to 13,000rpm
Torque is rated at 100ft-lbs, and horsepower is right around 220.
Probably the most reliable engine ever built!
Its a DOHC that uses small pushrods.

It is a 90 degree block, but that's about the extent of what I know about them, oh and they area real bitch to pull the SC version out of a T-bird.

ya 90 degree block, probally revs to 6k, as for hp I think its 140hp & 210 trq. it all depends on the application.

dont lie , we all know that the heads and manifolds are maple, oak isnt near strong enough, im pretty sure you are right about the rods though
