where do people get their chips at?

just curious where folks get their chips at, and which ones to you use? I believe our cars use the 27c256, am I wrong?

    thanks -

I use a 29C256 chip instead of the crap ass UV erase 27C chip. Brad orders them for me, its pioneer something.

the moron who was going to get me the 29's came back to me today and said "Oh, they're all backordered"

I'm on the hunt again, if you could find out from Brad where you get the chips that would be awesome!

        Thanks,

Depending on your programmer you can also use 27SF256 chips, they cost maybe 1/5 of what 29C256's do.

i don't have a 3.4 anymore, but am still trying to tune. if my ecu uses a 2732 EPROM, what other options do i have? i'm looking for something that i can erase with a pocket programmer, or some other quick cheap method. what do you guys reccomend?

None of us use that chip, so I dunno what you could use instead of the 2732.

if my ecu uses a 28 pin eprom, can i use any 28 pin eprom to replace it? or will a faster chip hurt the computer? i know the 3.4 uses a 28 pin'er, and you guys talked about a lot of different eproms to use in it, that's why i ask.

also, what is the best programmer out there? i see a lot of cheapies on ebay, but should i stick with something like the "pocket programmer"?

Dont get the pocket programmer. You dont need anything fancy, it just has to write chips.

You might be able to use a larger chip and just write at a different starting point within the chip. I have no idea though as I dont do this and have never used a 2732.

so i just found out that the EPROM is a 27256, does that mean that i can also use the 29c256? if it is not UV erase, how do i erase it?
