this is with a G3 adapter instead of a G1, but it's largely the same, just ignore the BIN switcher and the header for the cable for the EX remote.

ok so the bottom piece of the adapter fits in to where the old EEPROM used to be?

Do you just toss the old eeprom or use it somewhere?

is that the only piece that will actually "plug in" to anything? What about the "gold pins" that are on the top right of the adapter that you can't see?, does anything plug into those or do they just sit bare?

the existing MEMCAL plugs into those gold pins. if you don't use it, the knock sensor gets disabled.

          take a look at this:

that's for a 1227730 IIRC, but largely the same. you don't need to remove the blue cover since the 7727 has more room inside of it.

            wow, great info!

I can't believe i didn't think about asking this before considering how close i am to the install!

My mind is at perfect ease now when it comes to the install. Moates does a great job of showing you exactly how everything is supposed to look. And knowing that i won't have to take off the blue cover to account for lack of clearance is just another thing to be happy about!

            thanks Robert!

              Max... If I may...

I know somebody mentioned something earlier about using a power control module from an early GM LT1 and since I have a question about mine (1993 Chevrolet LT1 Stock 22lbers ) regarding whether or not 24lb EFIs would work with the MEMCAL set up...I thought I would post it Off Topic here for just a moment and drop this link in here since THAT part seems germane to Max's earlier discussion line:

(Lots of pics, charts and info I have no idea about...but everyone else here seems to speak this language...)

                talk about an outdated webpage...

i don't like the fact that it's suggested to change your injector constant to get fueling in line.... that's not the right way to go about it, and can cause issues later...

so what is the correct way to do it?

btw... package didn't come in the mail.. says i missed delivery yesterday afternoon, my tracking# says i can go pick it up at the Post Office, went over there, they didn't have it, told me to go pound sand.

so hopefully they haven't lost and i can go pick it up tomorrow. I'm rattled right now.

                    depends on why it's off...

if the injector constant, and all other fueling related tables and constants, are correct, then the VE must be wrong...

i'll quote bruce plecan(RIP) for this one "crap in: crap out". the ecu can only do what it's told.

LOL WTF, if they told me to piss off I'd go postal... LOL
Do you have multiple PO's maybe it's at a different depot.

Correct way is to adjust the BPW, and then tune the VE and anything else that gets off from the injector upgrade...

Max, they will usually try and deliver a few days in a row before holding it at the PO. I don't know why they didn't leave it since I didn't request a signature

We attempted to deliver your item at 3:16 PM on November 18, 2009 in NORTH TONAWANDA, NY 14120 and a notice was left. You may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice, go to www.usps.com/redelivery, or call 800-ASK-USPS to arrange for redelivery. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later

I'm not so much mad about having to wait a couple days, rather i'm worried about whether they lost my package or some mailman with a 3.4 straight up housed it.

i don't know bout your hill billy jargon, but round here it's "housed"

whats funny is that it says^ that they "left a notice"...

OK... that definitely didn't happen. When i tried to explain this to the Post Office guys they were like we don't have it if you didn't get a notification and i'm trying to tell them that the tracking page said that i was SUPPOSED to get one even though i really DIDNT. and they were eventually like "yeah... i'm gonna have to go ahead and have you start pounding sand.. .yeah...."

I mean are you kidding me!!! I was home at quarter after four, right when the mail man showed up (handing me 3 packages btw for my sister and mother which only infuriated me more)

                                i mean wtf!!!
