I have a 89 Cavi Z-24 with a 02 Grand Am gt 3400 engine with a Gtreg 5-speed,custom headers,2.5 exhaust, cold air intake, lowered 2.7, Spec stage clutch, cooler thermostat,(as of right now Hypertech chip for a 90 Z with a 3.1) ,EGR delete, Injectors and regulator from a 96 Monte with a 3100 and front brakes from a gen 3 Cavi. I had a new chip made for it that eliminates the speed limiter and as egr delete and a couple other changes to match my car. I installed it and started it. It runs but don`t idle and can hear it really sucking air. The guy that made my chip said it will only work with the 3400 injectors. I hate to spend a couple hundred on injectors and regulator/harness if this don`t do the trick. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!

it doesn't sound like injectors alone to me...
besides that, 3100 and 3400 injectors are identical on a year-to-year basis IIRC...

the injectors you have now flow ~17.4 lb/hr at 43.5 PSI, the 00+ 3x00 injectors should be ~22.5 lb/hr at 55PSI.
FWIW, the TGP injectors flow ~22 lb/hr at 43.5PSI, and those use the EV1 connectors.

You need larger injectors and a custom tune to make it right. Maybe he has done a setup like yours and can send you a modified version?Ben

If the tune is for 3400 injectors, you have to use 3400 injectors. If you use smaller injectors, it will run lean (don't idle also). I don't understand why you bought a chip for 3400 injectors if you don't wanna spend the money to buy a set ?
The stock tune is for 3.1 injectors if that's the injectors you wanna use. Although its also for a 3.1 so it won't be optimal.
