    HELP!!

I just swaped a 2001 3400 into my 96 Chevy Corisica. It had a 3100 in it. I just got it together and started it and is runs like it is missing. When it is in park it runs like yuk, like it is missing. Then when i put it into drive and go down the block, it still sound like yuk but it dies every 10 feet or so. But it starts right back up no problem and then goes a few feet and then dies... all along sounding like a major missfire. I checked the fireing order a thousand times and that is fine. I checked for spark and that is fine. Oil pressure is fine. I did not swap out the crankshaft position sensor.. should I have put the 3100 in the 3400? what about the knock sensor?? Could eithor of these cause this? What else could it be?

    Thanks a bunch!!

oh yeah the only time it dies is when its in drive.. i think.. cause i reversed it home and it didnt die...

If you use the cam position sensor from the same year as the cam, you are fine. Definitely check your engine grounds. Also what are you doing for the EGR? Using the 01 EGR right? What about injectors and fuel pressure regulator? If they are the 01, thats probably your problem.

I did exactly what the 3400swap guide says... i used the 3100 fuel rail, injectors and harness. no egr right now cause i dont have an adapter.. i am looking for a 03 that should work... my car is a 96 and the 3400 is a 2001, but i was told the cam sensors are the same...This swap had been done before on a 96 but with the 03 3400 and runs fine...

EGR changed, and there was a coolant temp sensor difference (2 wire and 3 wire) at some point. Dunno if that applies to you or not.

I will be amazed if it works, since 3x00s don't require idle relearns...

but does it still backfire and die every once in a while? and when it starts to die, even though you give it more gas it seems like it chokes it off worse and tries to die right then?
