    first time, need help

    what is the easiest way to remove the engine from my car? 1997 malibu LS 3100sfi. have a bad motor and need to replace it.

    Pull it out the top, seperate from the tranny.

      Depending on how the transmission is mounted in the car when you split it from the engine, you can use a 2x4 across the engine bay front to back and a ratchet strap to hold up the trans while the engine is out.

        I always just used an extra jack stand to support the tranny while the engine was out.

          thanks guys. i have pulled engines out of older rwd cars but never a fwd i had seen some people pull the whole engine cradle from the bottom and really did not want to do that. so this will save me some time

            If you have the room and dont need to move the car, that will work to. I always have to wheel the car out while I work on the engine, so the trans has to be supported from above.
