    Beretta/3400?

OK,long story short: I work at a gas station. there's a guy that lives behind it,( in a house on the street behind it) and he's been wrenching on a beretta ( appears to be a z26) for some time now. He came in asked if I knew anybody that worked on cars, I said "yeah, me". He asked some questions about his car's internals (valve train stuff). I told him that he might be able to swap a newer low mileage 3400 from a grand am or alero into it, and save some headache.
He now wants to know: what does he need to do it? motor mounts? tranny? wiring/ecu? if some one could, just a quick run down ( no need for being REAL specific, yet) of what's involved. The guy is just wanting to swap a stock 3400 in, he's tired of not having a car. If you need to know any specifics about his car feel free to ask. I can find out rather quickly. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks everybody!

www.3400swap.com will help if it's a 94-96 3100 car. Otherwise it will take more effort but is do-able, but if he just wants to get going, its not gonna be worth his time on a non-3100 car.

3400swap.com wasn't working earlier today. I'll find out tomorrow specifics about the car. If it ends up not being a 94-96 3100 car, I'll just tell him it's too much work, and I was wrong and sorry for getting his hopes up. If it is, then I'll let you know friday night after midnight (get off work then)

If it is in fact a Z26, then it will be a 3100 car. Pre-94 Berettas that had ground effects and such were GTZs and GTUs.

ok,it's a 91 that came with a 3.1L. however, the engine bay is empty right now, with only the stock tranny in it.

I hate being the "guy that has internet" and having to handle this situation this way, but I really kinda feel sorry for this dude.

checkout www.domesticcrew.com and check out the swap guide

since its not the 3100 its just requires a few more parts, for the engine mount i would go to jbodyperformance.com it takes a while to get and it has to be slightly modified (egg out 2 holes) but its probly the easiest way to go. just toss the swap guide that it comes with, domestic crew is better

Well the 93-92 v6 cars you gotta swap over power steering pump, mess with the fuel lines, etc etc. The 91-87 you gotta deal with making a motor mount too.

Some Z26's were 5spd/quad cars. But all other Z26 were 3100.

And he'll need a tuned chip. Cause he will max out his 3.1mpfi injectors on the 3.1mpfi tune and it will run weird... It becomes more and more work you see... But if he/you want to put in the time, then it can be done and be fast...

If he just wants on the road I'd look for a 3.1mpfi that runs and be done with it.
