Ok all.. I have HAPPILY scrapped the L67 idea in my 87.. I want a 60 degree. I would like to know if it would make more sense to drop the whole 3400 in, or just build it up of a 3.1 MPFI block.. I want to keep it OBDI because I have a complete 3.1 engine harness for the 6000.. Engine computewr as well.. let me know of any tips you may have for this! Thanks!

You can use either block with OBD1, it doesn't care what controls it. I would just the 3400 whole and either get a regrind on the cam or wait for a cam to be made.Ben

You have them grind down on the base circle, which allows them to increase lift. They can also grind the lobe for more duration. This requires new pushrods to get the correct valve lash.Ben

crane has done the regrind before and can give you some ideas for specs. It really depends on what you are doing with the rest of the motor as for what specs you want.Ben

Just settin it uup pretty stock for now.. The stock HP should be mopre than enough to move iot around nicely.. Eventually add a Supercharger or Turbo.. That'd be about it..

Ok, I'll just go find me a wrecked GA, Impala, Monte Carlo, etc.. Unless.. Someone has one they don't want anymore......... lol.. Thanks for the assistance! Will I still need to send the cam to be reground then if I do the full 3400?

If you arent modding anything else, I wouldn't bother with the cam. I just wanted to point out that it was the only option right now for a cam upgrade with that engine.Ben

Well depends though. Companies have roller cam cores for 60* V6's. So as long as you do not need the cam sync right (like on MPFI) then you could run a regular roller cam. Could you not?1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

The only non-regrind roller cams for the 660 that I know of are sold roller, and even then I only know of Schnieders, that would be avaialbe as a complete kit (cam and lifters).Originally posted by betterthanyouWell depends though. Im not sure how the oiling system would work with the solid roller setup in a gen 3 motor...never really looked into it. Im also not sure how the GM hydraulic rollers would work out on one meant for non SFI either. Could be very possible.Ben

Well why does the cam care if they are hydraulic or solid. Just keep stock lifters but put a better cam in. Shouldn't be a problem. A cam is just a stick with bumps on it. Not that complex1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
