    Big brake upgrade for J-bodies!!

    The J-Body Organization, j-body.org, is the worlds largest automotive enthusiast group exclusively geared towards the General Motors GM J-car platform including the Chevrolet Cavalier, Pontiac Sunfire, Pontiac Sunbird, Pontiac J 2000, Oldsmobile Firenza, Buick SkyHawk and Cadillac Cimarron.


    friggin awesome!!!!! now if we could rob a bank.......i'm going to have to email and ask for a price. looking at oreilly auto parts, even the 1996 cavalier share the same rotor, but the pads seem different. it's ok though. you'll have to use their pads since you will have different calipers!!

    Im lost. Does that effect the 60V6 j bodies or just the swapped 60V6s? Im not up on platform specific cross reference guides:P

      even so, nobody with a j-body needs brakes that big. ive ridden in a car with caddy sts fronts (11.25") and the thing stopped amazingly well. im sure if it had daytona 11" vented rears the thing would stop even better. but realy anything bigger is overkill. you just start having to much braking power and end up locking the wheels up more than having a controlled stop.

          I'm working on just putting Grand Prix front brakes on my retta... I'm halfway there, I just need to get off my lazy arse and machine my knuckle and weld on the brackets for it. 80% of the other work is already done.

            What does everyone think of these parts? All this together will be like $645 for original GM parts 2000+ Corvette Z06 calipers and ceramic pads, cross drilled and slotted rotors on all for corners. all it needs is a bracket for each caliper which has been done by others so it shouldnt be too difficult.

                i also have to ask, with those front brakes, why not remove the rear drum assembly?

                    My sentiments exactly. Why have front discs the size of garbagecan lids if you still have rear drums. A stock-size rear-disc conversion would have been more worth the time and effort. Also, the 92-98 N-bodies seem to share the same brake components as the J-bodies.

                      those would be niiiice to have heh, that and small daytona rear disks the car would have nearly no brake fade i'm sure.
