Cleaning the wheel sensors?

Is this possible? I'm trying to diagnose the dreaded "ANTI LOCK" light on the dash. I was talking to JMGTP about it and he said this might be possible. Does anyone know how to do it/ if it's possible?!

I have the same thing with my dads SHO. There was same buildup between the sensors but I didnt clean all of them up cause I noticed too late in the brake changing. I am going to try cleaning them out this spring and see if it helps.

Razor blade doesnt even fit in there, so it may be floss or something? Maybe the GM setup differs though, I dunno. I dont have ABS on any of my cars.

I was gonna try spraying some mild degreaser in there... not sure if that would damage the electronics or not though? I guess if worse comes to worse, I can pull the two bolts to get the sensor off completely.

Probably your best bet if its that easy to remove. If they can take the rain, mud, dirt, road debris, brake dust?, then they can take some degreaser. At least thats my theory on it.

The sensors themselves are magnets, so a degreaser will only get the non-metallic crap off. Using a can off brake cleaner usually works well. The high pressure spray blows the metal shavings right off. Otherwise, you can disassemble everyting and wipe the parts down by hand.

If the abs light is on all the time I doubt its the wheel sensors. If there is a problem w/ a wheel sensor they will set a light only while braking and shut off when you let off the brake.

I know on my Grand Prix the cable to one of them was severed, the system got completely retarded and would kick in way to early and I couldn't stop. My Lumina is doing it now and I've pulled it's fuse for them too. Now I've only got 2 brakes that can lock up!
