Question : 1998 chevy venture epc sensor!!!! transmission

I have a 98 Venture, the past 3 years all I have had is problems, now it seems to be an epc sensor on the transmission. Rebuilt transmission 1-1/2years ago, have not drove van in 6months, Looking for answers about the repair so I do not get nailed to the wall with this repair, the quotes that I have received are all over the place.

Years back we had a dealer put one in our 99 venture for $600 I think. But there are several examples of how to do this without removing the transmission. (Link on this site even.) So if you have a good mechanic who beats the quoted price you should be ahead of the game.
