    2000 OBDII running 2005 3400 (Fiero Swap)

I'm getting closer to my Fiero's engine swap (next week!) but hit a little snag about running this 2005 Equinox 3400 (LNJ) in my '86 Fiero 4spd. I want to run this motor like the previous generation with a 2000 computer and harness from a 3400 car (have yet to find a good donor from pull a part). The crank triggers have me confused because they changed it over in 2005.

What I want to know is, can I install the External 7x crank trigger from WOT-Tech and not have to worry about it or (as someone from Pennock's suggested) can I swap out the timing cover to a 2000ish motor with the trigger behind the balancer? Any input would be much appreciated.

You will need to use the external trigger. The trigger on the back side of the crank is not a "keyed" sensor. In other words, it doesn't know where the cylinders are in relation to its triggering, so it will not work for what you are trying to do.
