    Difference between 99 3400 and 2000+

I'm looking at buying an alero that is a 99. I know it is not as desirable a motor because the heads are different from what I remember. It needs an engine swap done anyway, so I was thinking about using a 2000+ engine since they are easier to find.

Will it be a direct swap? If I have to change out sensors and such no big deal but If I'd have to change out wiring or computers that's another story

There are no differences that I can think of that will require any wiring, let alone PCM changes. The only real differences are the castings of the heads, lower, and upper intake manifolds.

i believe the EGR is different and the timing chain sucks. lower intake manifold might have a difference hook up for the heater core line, not a big deal, it can be retrofied
