    Dad strong - intake manifold

Apparently I am still "Dad strong". I broke off two bolts between plenum and intake manifold. Pretty sure the bolts are too small to drill and reverse, but I will order a new extractor set and give it a try. Originally, I was going to junkyard to get a drivers door, but decided to put top of the engine back together after cleaning egr, and replacing map sensor and faulty tps. I should have went to junkyard first and weakened myself up first. 1991 cutlass supreme convertible 3.1. Man I am pissed off at myself.

Woah, you broke 2 intake bolts on a gen 2? Were they corroded in or were you tightening them up with a 1/2" impact? Thats rough, I thought you broke 2 ears off the upper and it would be a gen 3 motor. Thats the common way to go but gen 2 is a much different design. The bolts with the rubber sleeves?

Hey Ben, Yeah, the bolts with the rubber sleeves. I still haven't fixed it. Is the 2.8 intake manifold (below the plenum) the same as the 1991? There is a 1988 Cutlass Supreme in the local junkyard with the 2.8.

The 2.8 manifold set I had was slightly different but compatible. The PCV goes to the lower intake, not the plenum, and it has a chamber on the bottom side with holes to each runner. I would block that off and use the plenum connection even though its a pain in the ass to get connected. Or maybe it won't be different like mine was. No clue when they changed it.

They have a 94 Lumina with a 3.1 (not 3100) that just came in, so I am in luck and don't have to do the workaround. I haven't had a 3.1 since the early 2000's, I switched to the 3.4's after that. Now I have come full circle and have a 1990 3.1. Thanks bud!
