3500 LIM gaskets

So the guy I bought this "Ben" ported 3500 LIM included a set of gaskets.

Plastic, little metal inserts at the ends, and silicone around the ports.

GM Part number on them is 12580990.

Yay or Nay???

How long are you going to run the motor before you tear it apart? I don't like plastic gaskets and Felpro released the metal gaskets for the 3500 lower intake. I don't know how long the plastics will last.

You could just order it and have it shipped here then when we meet up the gasket could be waiting for you.

I have them in stock. 98013T I think is the part number from felpro.

the GM ones are fine. I have 81K on the newest revision with no seepage. I have over 3K very hard mines (including a few over-heatings) on my 3500 ones.. no problems either.

I hope they remain fine too How many years is that? I am not aware of mileage being the issue so much as heat cycles and time itself.

5 years on the GAGT (bought it new in '04), around a year on the 3500, would be 2 but I had the top end apart last year.


the '04 3500 that i took apart last fall had 53K on it and showed no signs of leaking either. Also, on a scary note, a friend of mine re-used the original LIM gaskets from his '96 Lumina and got another 20K out of it before it failed due to low oil pressure (un-related). haha
