Everybody thinks that the imps and the 3400 montes got the 4t60, especially the 3800 guys. It's one of those things that makes them so superior.

well the 65HD actually has a worse gear ratio than the 4t65 or the 60 so they really arent that inferior

What gearing does the 4t60 have? The 4t65's come in what? 3.69, 3.29, and 2.89. Or are you referring to each individual gear? not just the FDR.

Mine's pretty bad gearing.... 2.97 FDR lol. But the 65 HD has powerful motors behind them so you kind of want taller gearing.

BTW the older Monte's had the 4t60-e lol.

Man this topic really got sidetracked over a vacuum line... lol

the 65HD uses an overdriven gear set for the chain drive which turns out to be 2.93 FDR, the others have either the 3.05 or 3.29, on my 4t45 im going with 3.91 gears, im gonna like that, and the higher HP would be alot better behind som lower gears any day

If I ever go to dynotech, I'll be sure to get something like the 3.29's or 3.69's.

Hey, I was just reading another 3500 swap thread, and there was mention of needing to change the adapter plate for the throttle body. No one mentioned this to me, is this necessary?

My project still consists of swapping in the 3500 heads and LIM.

edit: I guess Isaac mentioned it, but it got lost in the midst of the conversation.

if you are using the 3500 UIM then u will need the adapter plate because it has a different patten. the 3500 TB was drive by wire, so there was no cable on it. they sell the plates on the store here for that

but if you are using the 3400 UIM, then u wont need it
