Preparation for heads, uim, camshaft and downpipe

Why do you need a MAP sensor connector if you are maintaining the 3400 Upper intake. Everything that applies to the 3500 Upper intake manifold swap doesn't apply to you. You're only changing the lower and the heads right?

Yeah your existing MAP will be kept if your using your existing 3400 plenum.

But if you do go to the 3500 plenum and it's MAP sensor, then this place has the pig tail.
The grey/purple MAP pigtail is the one with black grey and green wires. Or you can go to a junkyard and get one from a 98+ cavilier/sunfire.

ok, so now we're back to no extra parts needed...other than the gasket kit that I have to order, and then drilling the holes for some of those gaskets.

And your coolant temp sensor deal. If you don't have the one that comes with the 3500 (which you'll extend your harness) then you gotta figure out something like the guys above said. You could not drill the holes and use RTV like the 3400/3100 do too if you wanted.

wait a minute...why do u need the map sensor connector??? u already have a 3400 correct, and the map sensor is on the upper manifold not the lower, so u dont need it, u already have it, unless u are doing something different that i dont know about

I don't think I need it now, just a little misunderstanding. You're right, I'm only switching the lower, not the upper...and I plan on using the 3400 plenum.

lol now everyone is getting confused.

I *think* the 3500 coolant sensor is different in size/threads than the 3400 one. If you have that then yes just extend the wires (I'd solder and use heatshrink with some electrical tape over that). I think others were having issues because they didn't have that sensor and the 3400 3 wire sensor didn't fit in the 3500 heads. I *think* that's right but haven't confirmed.

Ok, I think I follow now. I'm guessing mine didn't come with it. Is this a part I can buy as well? I'd hate to drill more than I have to.

yah i would look at that first, and like isaac said you dont have to drill the holes either, just cut the nipple off and use some RTV to secure the gasket, or just use a crap load of RTV and trash the gasket. and on the extension, just do what isaac said and use solder and heat shrink, dont use the butt connectors, sometimes they give unwanted resistance to the circuit and thats the last thing you need.
