Pacesetter Headers Ready for the 3400

I just got this email from Pacesetter:

Thank you for contacting Pacesetter Performance Products, we have just
released a header for these applications listings as follows:

    97-03 Grand Prix, 00-05 Monte Carlo & Impala 3.1/3.4L

    PART # 70-1207 (BLACK PAINTED) $589.95
    PART # 72C1207 (CERAMIC COATED) $819.95

    See attached photo

    Thank you,
    Pacesetter
    Sales/Service/Tech
    602-266-1964 x505

I really wish they would have made them to compete with the S&S price wise................

why is it that they are so much more than the 3800 headers?

Interesting... Seems like the O2 bung is awfully far away from the heads though.

Yes but the S&S o2 bung just reads the back bank IIRC.

Actually I had it reversed. It has the O2 bung in the downpipe for the front bank. http://www.headermania.com/mm5/merch...de=V6HeadersGA
That means the O2 sensor is only reading the exhaust from the front bank of cylinders (2,4,6) and not all 6.

Very true about the 02 only reading the front cylinders. For boosted apps, you'll definitely want to address that issue.

And chris, I'm guessing that the price has to do with the market. So few are modding the 3400's compared to the many that are modding the 3800's.

I wonder if these will leak like the 3800 headers.

I wuold like to know fi these would clear a 5 spd tranny. I heard the s&S don't. Probably be awhile before we know if the pacesetters do.

Looks to me like they're based on the latest generation w-body platform and since they weren't offered with a 5 speed, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

On a side note, I wonder if these clear the t-stat housing better than the S&S. I also can't stand that they don't offer a catted downpipe. They'd rather you hack up their headers and totally trash the warranty on the headers.

I want someone to get these to see if the damn things leak like the 3800 ones. When that happens, I'll be convinced that pacesetter sucks ass at building headers.

I have never heard anything good about there stuff, and I have heard a lot about them. Design alone turned me off this set.

pacesetters are the best bang for the buck ls1 4th gen f-body headers. but with that, comes shitty coating. they do rust out at the collectors pretty fast. but for 400 bucks, you get what you pay for.

I like how they merge the pipes together into a true merge style instead of just dumping right into the collector of the rear bank. Hope they are actually less in price. I can't seem to find them for sale at any of the big companies like Jegs or Summit.

SS does two 3-1's and then a 2-1 collector...

I'm not liking the extremely high amount of parts plus I'm having trouble seeing how that crossover pipe works... then again my setup would have to angle down MUCH further.

I don't know why people get so bend out of shape over this. It's not a big deal.

As for Pacesetter, well $500 for painted headers is a rip. Expect these to be nothing but rust within 2 months.

Why dont headers clear a 5 speed aplication and can anything be done to make them fit?

I think the 5speed bellhousing comes up higher where the headers go over it. Hacking them up would make them clear a 5spd or fit a L/J body firewall but might as well make your own if you are going that far..
