Head Gasket Set

Since i blew my head gasket and when i got down to the heads to see how bad the gasket was i come to find out that its 75% gone. (wierd) but othe then that is there a good aftermarket gasketset out there other then the stock ones from my local murrys auto store.

well i thought i might as well just ask all the question in one thread so, here they come. Ok for the cam what one should i get?

There currently isn't an aftermarket cam for the 3100s. The only thing you can get (for at least a few more months) is a regrind. The reason they list the cam there is because some cars (Cavaliers, Luminas) kept the old 3.1 into 94, while most of the other cars got the 3100.

As far as the gaskets go, take a look at http://www.pickproparts.com. They have Fel-Pro gasket kits on there for a decent price. I just used them on my '95 3100. Actually, I still have the exhaust manifold gaskets and valve stem seals if you want those. I'll give you a better price than anywhere out there!

And the reason there are no cams available for the 3100-3400 is because these use an assembled roller cam and the older ones like the ones your looking at are the older flat tappet cams. You can use a flat tappet cam in a roller block. Your best off using a regrind for now till someone comes up with a core for a roller cam. Anyone should be able to re-grind your cam and some will even ask for your pushrods so they can get you new ones that will match with your cam.

well i found a company online that can make cutoms cam which is not to bad. Not sure on the price i will post the web site when i get home. What about roller rockers and lifters?

You can swap the roller rockers from a 96+ engine, or you can use some narrow bodied rockers from Crane or other manufacturers. Check the threads because there was just a post about someone putting the Crane's on his engine. You should already have roller lifters unless I'm missing something.

Crane rockers take some intake manifold modification to fit a 3X00. Lloyd and I were the forst to do it. But it really wasent that hard.

Call Crane or ARP, they have a stud with the 10mm for the head with a 3/8's stud up top. I gave up on trying the swap, mainly because of having to use the guide plates. The self aligning rockers might be a bit better. I like Comp's mag. rocker arm. I have a set of these in the self aligning in 1.6 and the harland sharp rocker arms, both are full roller rockers with roller tips.
