    Ok...this is not a DOHC vs Pushrod debate, its someone asking how to make their car compete with a DOHC. If you wanna bench race, go to off topic and bench race.
    Thx but its nice to see that you can argue about it that means it could be close and i could possibly win. Least every post isn't like yeah my DOHC has never lost to a 3.1 or 3100 lol gives me some hope. I'm pretty sure on what i'm going to do whether i win or not doesn't really matter its all in fun for this race anyway.

      3.1L = 140hp, right?
      3.4L = 200hp, right?
      Both are autos.
      Looks like you have to overcome a 60hp gap Stoney.
      That's all there is to it.

        Its a 94 3100, not a 3.1L, therefore his stock HP is ~160. So its only a 40hp gap...

          But again, you still need to look at WHERE power is made and how broad it is. And a stock 3.1 cam isn't goign to pull to 7000 rpm. They shut down right after 5500.

          And how in the world does your 3.4 shut down after 5??? Mine doesn't even make it's max power until 6300. And ti holds that straight to 7000 with the headers, with very little drop off. and the 13* retard will make it hold it to 7 even stronger.

            Oh, ok. Still though, 40hp is a lot to make up.

                  so when we make this argument valid by using engines with the same displacement (3400 vs 3.4TDC) that gap drops to what, 15-20 horse?

                    I'll be sure to post the time slip in june on the forum after we race with a list of mods that we do. I'm talking to some local people to see about getting pnp heads done. So if i get that i should win as long as he doesn't get that done! lol

                      Ever raced a 3400 in a 3.4 Auto? Its a fun race. The GA GT had literally 2 car lengths on us. AT about 40 we were side by side, when our auto shifted. By 90 we had 2 car lengths on it. It was really bad how bad he got us off the line tho. Every shift the 3400 makes slows it down more and more, their gearing is worse than the 3.4 and drops it to like 2200rpm EACH SHIFT

                          if u have the time and tools try a stall. 4spdz34 carries them.(mine was for a 4t60e tranny)
                          other than that nitrous will help your speed. if u have stock timing just go 2 steps colder on the plugs and try a 50 shot. u can get a system for under $500.

                          that will help if not get u a win. if the race is as close as u say.
                          a 3000+ launch(if your tires can handle it) and an additional 50hp should help.

                          u will slaughter him so bad off the line, u might demoralize him.lol

                            A 50 shot will get you a win, but nitrous on an old stock motor is not the wisest of ideas. And for those who say "I'll only run it once or twice," bullshit. You power increase is so great that you end up spraying on a weekly basis. Also, it is illegal to spray on city streets or highways.
