    3.4 carb and dist

I'm currently building a 3.4 engine for Lotus track car. Anyone have experience with carburation and use of a distributor for this engine?

Which 3.4 are you referring to?

Ok. At least its an iron head engine, so there is a manifold available to run a carb and a distributor. Reason I asked is many people want to use a carb and dist on a newer 3400 engine, but still refer to it as a 3.4. There isn't anything available that allows a carb to be bolted up to the aluminum heads.

There are several guys on here running carbs and distributors... What questions or concerns do you have?

I had an Offenhauser manifold with a 390 Holley on my 2.8 with early distb;it ran real well with a 260 cam. The Offy is no longer available,I think it was a better manifold than the edelbrock. I have seen a custom 4 bbl manifold made using the lower base of an efi and design for high rpm, that would be your best bet if you or someone could weld up an alum. upper.

              carb/dist

Brad, I wanted to here from people using carbs just to see what varrious arrangements they were using. It would appear that the carb route works. I will be using Al heads and would make a mountings using the plenum as a base.
Question ssdurango: what was the application for your Mallory dist.? I mean was it made for an earlier engine like the 2.8 or what?

If you are planning on using the aluminum heads, you have a lot of work ahead of you. The distributor will not clear a stock lower intake, let alone the upper plenum. So even if you used the lower with a custom upper, you are still going to run into issues mounting the dizzy.

berniejayd: It was made for a carbed 60*v6. I have it on an iron head 3.4. I've cut out and welded in the back cross over on the camaro lower intake manifold. It's a supercharged propane setup I made.

Did you want to see a pic of the lower intake manifold or the whole setup?

No I don't remember seeing those pics. Crazy. I also noticed the Hydroboost. Did you buy a kit or build one yourself?
