    PCM swap

Sup dudes this is my first post on this forum, i have a 96 cutlass with the 3100(L82) and i realize that the 96 pcm is trash and is not tunable, i might want to swap to a 3400 but for now im sticking with the 3100, which pcm should i swap to so i can do tuning on the 3100? and if i swap to a 3400 can i still use that pcm?

I was able to use a 97 grand am PCM in a 96 achieva, but the VIN didn't match and the gauges were replaced...which is where another VIN was stored. Total PITA. Hopefully you won't have to deal with any of that, and can use a 97 W body 3100 PCM with the same transmission.

I am not sure if a DHP would let you use any VIN, but HPTuners is a lot better for the actual tuning process. If the VIN is wrong, it may not pass inspection. I have never had to deal with inspections to know.
