Can anyone help me understand how to adjust the pushrods I am changing the head gaskets and can't find any info on it

Adjust valves when lifter is on base circle of camshaft lobe. Tighten adjusting nut until there is zero lash + one turn. This can be determined by rotating pushrod while turning adjusting nut. When lash has been removed, turn adjusting nut one (1) additional turns (to center lifter plunger).

Ok so zero lash would be when the up and down movement is gone correct

Correct, pushrod should spin on its axis but no side to side movement. Easier to determine that way rather than up and down motions. Then 1 full turn.
