i have never taken a fuel pressure reading. every couple of months i go through a fuel pressure regulator. the fuel pump is a GM high flow unit for a buick grand national. i have been trying to figure out how i can gut a stock regulator and use an aftermarket one in the return line. it'll happen one day. i was using accel 17# injectors and it ran slightly rich and then i put the stock injectors back in and i lost some power so i have a set of 3400 injectors that i sent out to be cleaned so im going to put those in as soon as i get them back. compresson is 9.8:1

There's some issues there, if you keep going through regulators.

I haven't hadany problems with mine, and I run boost pressure into mine, it's also modified so I have adjustable base fuel pressure.

i havent figured out y they keep going, but it started to happen when i pulled the stock pump and put in the grand national one. my gm book says not to go over 60psi into the regulator as that may damage it. i wouldnt think that the grand national pump puts out that much psi but maybe it does. do u have a 3.1 or 3100? and if u do have a 3.1, i would like to see a pic of your modified regulator if possible

How many times am I going to have to say this?

PUMPS DONT MAKE PRESSURE. They only make flow. It is not until you make a restriction to that flow that presure is prooduced. Your regulator is making the same pressure it did before you changed the pump.

Problems may be resulting from excessive flow to the regulator that cannot bleed off and it's bursting the diaphragm. The way to solve this is to install a larger return system.

i'm just trying to figure out how you managed to keep from leaning out with the extra air flow and the stock chip with stock fuel psi. those cars don't have a MAF to figure out it's flowing more air and correct for it. not to mention how a built 3.1 with 17# injectors can run so rich that the computer can't compensate.

it doesnt have a stock chip, it was a custom one that was made for all the modifications that were done. it ran rich only at start up which is normal but it was a little more than stock, as soon as it got up to temp, motor ran good

now i really want to do the 3400 top end swap. if milzys stage 2 heads are that good, i probably would do it. use his 3400 lower intake but i want to use a 3500 upper (dont want it to say 3400). i can only imagine how much extra power that would do for this little motor

oh yeah! i tend to think 240-250 crank HP is possible with good tuning--i hope anyway. i'd use Ben's stuff, cheaper, is more thurough, and he has a flow bench now. I have some heads and a 3400 LIM and they are very nice for the money!! It looks like quite a job to do the swap, but it's more detailed little PITA things. i think Milzy only does the roller cam dosen't he?

yeah, i think milzy has 2 cams, stage 1 and 2. its been awhile since i have been on that site. i was looking into his stage 2 heads and intakes if i were ever to do the swap. a grand for a set of heads seemed a little expensive. maybe i could rip them off a car at the junkyard and send them to someone to get them ported/polished. does ben do that kind of work normally or is it on a limited basis?

he sure does. just click on the 60degreeV6.com link at the top and that's his little store of fun things! he just flowed some 00 and up 3400 plennums that he gasket matches and blends it all in and they flow more than RSM's--5-6 more CFM per port!! also, you can tell him what you are shooting for and he can either recommend something or customize it for your needs. i will get as much stuff from him that i can. he know what he's doing and i have been dealing with him for a couple of years now and you can completely trust him.

don't think a side by side comparison. i'm sure there is a reason out there not to buy milzy's stuff--at least some of it. i'll have to ask a couple of guys and get back to ya.
