I found GM part number for a set for a 3400 but I'm wondering if there's a p/n for a set for a 3100 as well. The reason for wanting graphite is for moderate boost (~10psi) after a ported/polished top-end swap with a 3400. I was told to use the 3400 gaskets but that didn't seem right to me. Thanks in advance if you guys can point me in the right direction.

Are you using 3100 or 3400 heads?Originally posted by AzraelI found GM part number for a set for a 3400 but I'm wondering if there's a p/n for a set for a 3100 as well. RE: Re: 3100 Graphite Headgaskets?
Is your motor a 3100 or 3400, that is the real question. Heads are the same for 00+ 3100 and 3400. How is graphite going to hold better than a felpro set?Ben

Don't graphite gaskets hold up better to deterioration due to "hot spots"? Of course, this is just my limited knowledge via google, and noticing they are used with a lot of forced induction setups (other than copper).
I had been using the older 3400 head gaskets from a rebuild ~3 years ago. They were holding up, however, they were starting to somewhat bubble up around the coolant passages on the block where there is no corresponding passage on the heads....

Well, if no one else is going to answer... I don't understand why it would be a problem. But, I am always willing to learn someting newOriginally posted by AzraelSorry. It's a 95 3100 block with 96+ 3400 heads.

I would be using 3100 gaskets on a 3100 engine. I don't have any idea what the purpose of 3400 gaskets on a 3100 would achieve.Ben
