    3400 Build Ideas

I'm building a 3400 for use in a rockcrawling buggy. I want to make a few mods to get better low/mid range power out of it. So far I'm thinking about having a cam reground, getting a billet throttle body, DHP tuner, and building headers. I haven't put a ton of thought in to the cam specs yet, but something similar to this -
    http://www.cranecams.com/?show=brows...tType=camshaft

I know that is a non roller cam, but its just an idea. Also, would the 62mm TB be better for my application or would the 65mm? What kind of power can I expect from a mild build like? 220?

Thanks in advance for the help. I've been researching this project for a long time on this site and I'm finally getting started.

Are you going to use stock heads and intake manifolds (aside from matching for the TB perhaps?). I would use the 3500 plenum with the adapter and port/modify that (or get one from me:P ) Easier and better.

Im asking because I can run some simulations with dynomation since I have stock flow numbers. Not sure what specs you can get with a regrind though. Would be nice to have a range of specs for regrind possibilities though. I would get a new cam from speed pro as they are cast vs the stock press on lobe deal. More durable that way.

I plan on using the stock heads. If I use a 3500 plenum can I use the stock lower intake? Also, what about the Tb? Would a 62mm or 65mm be better?

Actually, I did a little research and maybe I will do a whole 3500 top end. What kind of performance can I expect from that? Do you know anyone that has a 3500 upper end for sale?

I don't know anyone selling 3500 parts. Not sure on performance either though its a nice setup. I would use a 65 on a 3400 for sure, and possibly a 62 on a 3100 though a 65 would probably be good on it as well. The 3500 plenum will work on a stock 3400 lower.

Clevite makes the cam I was thinking of. I can probably get one cheaper than 186.99 as well.

I wonder if they have blanks laying around... maybe they'd do a custom grind
