Not always. If you make the engine more efficient, you can increase power and milage. Maybe not the milage you get while making power. Good port velocity for cruising RPM and enough flow for the powerband.

Simple stuff would be to keep everything working as it should. Regular oil changes, trans fluid level/life, spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air in the tires, and those types of things. If you are already familiar with that stuff, then the better mods for power/economy would be the larger intake manifolds. I wouldn't think the gas milage would take any hit from keeping the cam and head (or swap heads for 3400) or even ported. That kinda throws the 'minimal spending' out the window though. Getting the 3400 manifolds and a 56mm (stock 3400) throttle body and using your linkage would be the cheapest way to go. Ported manifolds would be better than stock but that is more expensive.

Unfortunately you don't have a tuning solution, which would be the best way to get more power and economy.

^that is true ... and my view way because if I want more power I am generally going to use it ... so that means less mileage for me lol.

and anyway (I forgot to post this in the first post.) Welcome to the site!!

Thanks guys... yea this is my daily driver, i got a 97 grand prix with a NA 3.8 so i dont need swaps or anything for more power... if i put money into power, that would go to the GP... i meant mainly like... whats the best degree plugs, what size wires, best filter to use (since i cannot figure a way to make a FWI on this car... things such as basic mods that will maintane gas mileage but wake the car up a little...

and thanks for the welcome guys...
