    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your interest in using us for a torque converter. I dont have a good suggestion for you off hand as I dont have much experience with your setup other than stock applications or stock and modified 3800 engines which will definately behave different. The problem with most stall rpm ratings is they are only for a stock engine in a given application and there is a world more to the true stall speed. Stock ratings are rarely ever accurate, nor are most aftermarket converters unless tested on a specific application. A 3200 rated converter could stall 2500 in one car and 3500 in the next. For custom built torque converters we use Precision Industries and they will build the converter to match the engine specs and desired stall speed, as well as to match the power adder being used if any. Not all converters are created equal and every combo and power adder will make the converter behave different. A 245mm converter for a fwd application is pretty universal across the board so there really isnt anything model specific. The Precision Industries torque converters use their own proprietary lockup clutch material that is fully compatible with the older on/off style tcc systems and also work fine with newer pwm tcc systems.

The converter we make for your car is a 9.5" Vigilante with a CNC Billet Steel front cover, heavy duty lockup, all furnace brazed and comes with a 5 Year Warranty. The converter sells for $808.04 and the build time is around 5-7 working days.

I can only Image what Tripple Edge will charge me if PI is quoting $808 since they said PI's would custom make one, so I can only imagine when he sends them my info they will come back with the same converter. I really dont need the CNC Billet Steel front cover.

I'll see what TCI Auto has to say. But right now I'm liking the responce and info RevMax has given me.

I recommend TCI or hughes also if they build TQs for 4t60s (which I don't know for sure either way). My powerglide is a TCI, and I'm running a hughes tq in the dragster and camaro. Can't think of any issues i've had with either company.

    Dave? Who made yours?

Right now I've been talking with RevMax Converter and I've told them what my current converter is doing what my engine setup is and what times I'm putting down and they LAUGHED at the converter that I'm currently running and couldn't believe that PDQ sold that to me. He said that he would recommend a 4k stall and that what I currently have is stalling around 5100-5200.... I would like to use my torque after a shift and off the line more since right now I'm skyrocketing passed 4k and hitting 5k so fast, and then after a shift at 6750 I don't drop below 5100 RPM, so RevMax said they could make something that would bring be down to the 4200-4400 range after a shift which I think would work MUCH better.

If anyone has any other converter places let me know, I'm in the middle of comparing prices and seeing what input I can get from them on whats going on with my current converter and why its so bad/loose.

Anyone want a god who knows what stall PDQ converter? Only run for maybe 4k miles so far... I just had it rebuilt and the stall dropped before Sept.
what are you looking to get for the PDQ converter. as you know i need something other than stock and it might work for me.

12.9@106.4 is as best as I could do... It was friken hot this weekend... It was around 75-80 ambient air temp and I was having traction issues again. As well as the ocasional shifting issue where it just wouldn't shift into 2nd fast enough, or at all. Gotta talk to Jeff at EP about that and find out what he can do to help me there.

Also got to meet gpse3400 while I was there, he was there with his Dodge Charger making some runs with a few other friends, so at least I had someone who appreciated the 3400 deal...

One other thing I need to work on as well is possibly build up an electronic WOT switch since the mechanical one I have failed to engage one run when I was up agianst a Buick GN and I could have taken him! I was running 13.0's all day long with shitty 60ft times but when I was against him the trans missed a shift so I had to let up and get on it again and thats when the nitrous didn't come back on and I ran a 14.0@94... He only ran a 13.3.

Better luck next time, and maybe I'll get to hit the track more next year... this was actually my first time there other than when I went to Bfest and that track, well... Blew...

Well I haven't been able to run the car as well as I've wanted this year. I have yet to hit my favorite track, just been way too busy... Did a few runs when we went out for Bfest in Indy but the track was so poor I was spinning everywhere. Since then I've changed the torque converter and had the stall dropped a bit. I'm hoping that will lessen the amount of wheel spin off the line but we'll see.

I also revisited my tune... After doing a lot of reading and data logging on my Subaru I've found out better ways to tune the car, and ways that make more sense. I properly scaled my IFR for the Vac changes with resulting pressure, and that helped me work with my VE tune more, I also then revisited my MAF tune and started to aim my requested A/F to match my actual reading from my wideband, right now I'm within 0.1 to 0.2 a/f when running WOT, so now I can use that target table to modify my mixture, rather than guessing at how much to scale my MAF. I just started messing with spark as well, I got it running MUCH better on the highway, and idle and such, I added a bit more spark at WOT as well and I'll see how that likes it later I was running 26.5 and I've bumped it up 2* to see what happens. I have a feeling I'll have to pull some of the timing, but I want to make sure I'm already running as much as I can since that does make quite a bit of power.

Here is a recent data log from a pull I did... 2nd gear into 3rd up to 106mph... lol I love living in the country.

    UVSCAN_10-7-2011 7_44_46 AM-Pull.csv

Log looks really good if you ask me.

Shooting for Epping tomorrow since they have an event and a test and tune day, so the track should be prepped nicely and also the air should be pretty good.

I use Howes lubricator/penetrating oil and that works pretty good.
    lol

my friend gave me the free-all. got it from when he was an electrician. i use to use gibbs but remembering to order it was a PITA and once i ran out i just went with pb blaster which sucks.

sprayed the free-all on it went outside and did some yardwork for a few came back in and with not much effort it broke free.

We have to run an open differential in the race car... ISOP is POSI spelt backwards... makes people think when they look at it but could be a note for us... lol Get it...

    Its not like ICUP... haha

I'll get a better shot of the bay with the motor all in there, I finally found my 8gig memory card for my camera.

I really like the way the engine bay turned out, it looks pretty sharp. As a side note, what does ISOP stand for? Or do I want to know...
