Dave, I figured you did....own tuning. I found tuning pretty straight forward. It was the fine tuning where I could spend time over excel graphs, formulas, etc.
I come to like HPT but I REALLY would have fun w/ Megasquirt. Especially a 6x EGT system to keep a more precise AFR.
In about 2 weeks I'll have my 5speed swap done. 96 turbo GP goes 5-speed! with an EP LSD too. It was a big project so far.

You know, one thing I've always wondered about tuning (since I've no practical experience myself) is why not just leave the hose capped for the FPR and set the ECM for 55 psi across the board? I mean, the ECM knows a) how much the injectors flow for a given PSI and b) how much fuel it wants to inject into the engine, so why does it really have to go down on idle when the ECM can just lower the injector pulse? Or is that exactly why? Because then you start to approach too short of an injector pulse where the injector won't completely fire correctly? That's about the only thing I can think of and honestly, it just came to me as I was typing it out thinking of how it works in my head, lol.

Yes, Hydroboost is probably going to happen.. Just need 2 people to pay off some debt and i'll start gathering the parts. I also have that rear disc swap to do.
Schmieder, Yes i do all my tuning. It's just easier to do it all myself.
Right now the car is back up on jack stands for some exhaust modifications, new trans lines and a trans cooler. I might also try to install my Tubular LCA's, aluminum driveshaft and perhaps the 3.73 gears since it's up there.
I need to do more idle tuning, since there is basically no idle vacuum the FPR is going up to 55 PSI at idle and drowning the engine in fuel. The oil is pretty fuel contaminated and it's got 3 or 4 fowled plugs right now

I've driven motorhomes on GM chassis with Hydroboost, and it did impress me how well it stopped those heavy pigs.

I gotta say Dave, you build some really nice work!!! And I mean that.
Do you do your own tuning?

That would be cool to see, thanks.
It's got a balance plenum already but the volume is extremely small and with having the brake booster and PCV running off of it also it seems like i'm not getting as good of a MAP signal as i could be. It's high enough at idle to throw a code 33 so something is up.
I did find that the 3 drivers side ITB's were open a little more than the passenger side, i re-adjusted the idle stops so we'll see if that helps when i get it back together. It's tricky since i'm not using a IAC motor to get the idle right, it's getting closer though...

I would think a vacuum ball would be a little too big of a buffer for the ITB setup and react too slowly. I've read in my performance fuel injection book that you want all TBs reference going to a common "buffer" like deal, but not a very large one due to what I just mentioned- just to get a reading from each cylinder. If I run back across it, I'll scan it and shoot you a copy of that section if you like.

I drove it around all day Friday and a few more issues came up but i solved a few more as well.
One of the biggest changes i made was flipping the fuel rail and the ITB's center rail around to hide the fuel and vacuum connections in the back. It also got the fuel lines away from the coil packs which was a fire waiting to happen. I also modified a vacuum ball to act as a buffer for the MAP sensor, we'll see if it cleans up the signal or not.
i still need to finish plumbing a few things and then put the ITB's back together before i can drive it again. I did fix the throttle cable so now i can finally hit 100% TPS instead of 79% with the pedal to the floor.
