This was the E-mail I got from him. For anyone who did not get it.
To everyone involved in the double roller group buy,
Jon, 3400-95-modified, has brought to my attention that there were some issues with the timing chain sets. I would like to get this situation resolved as quickly as possible. To do so, I need for everyone to send there sets back in for repair or replacement as needed.
My assumption at this time is that there was an issue with the flame hardening process which caused to sprockets to grow. However, until I have some in hand to measure, I am only guessing. Jon has his on the way back to me and, hopefully, I will have some answers next week. Once I get them, a determination can be made on the course of action to take.
As everyone knows, this was a group buy that was done at costs. I did make a little money on a few extra sets that I added to the batch. Any repair or replacement costs will be coming out of my pocket as vendors will only give a refund on their portion of the work. If it was the flame hardening, I would only get that money back and will have to buy material, pay for all of the machining and gear cutting myself. In regard to both expense and time, I hope they can be repaired. I say this to let everyone know where I am at and will make sure everyone is satisfied with their parts.
I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and am embarrased that any bad parts were shipped out. I made the mistake of assuming since everything was processed exactly the same as last time and using the same vendors, the parts were correct.
Thanks,
Marc

Really weird that the original batch has different numbers yet the other one Forced has fits the chain...

My original batch version is 4.933" diameter and 4.536" inside to inside on the teeth.

Before anything rash happens, everyone should just make sure the chain wraps completely around the gears and not skip like yours does. And yes, it only takes a small amount on a gear setup to eventually throw it off a lot.
Maybe it's .0000001" out of square, but by the time you get to the moon, it will be miles.

Can you measure the bottom diameter of the cam sprocket?
Like this, obviously using the narrower portion of the calipers to get deeper into the cut.
Mine measured up at 4.525" and major overall DIA of the sprocket was 4.941"
I also have no clue as to how something that is a production run could vary but all it takes is one miss calculation on the gear cutting machine and the error will compound fast which will make the chain jump. This is why I hope Marc can prove he did everything right but the gear cutter messed up somewhere... And I would assume if that is true then the cost to replace these wouldn't come out of his pocket because it's not his fault.Last edited by 3400-95-Modified; 07-17-2013, 02:41 PM.

Checked the one my tech bought for his car and it's fine. The chain can wrap completely around the gear and doesn't skip like Jon's did in those videos. In a production run, not sure why there would be a difference from one to the next.

Thanks for the information. I will continue to put off installing it until further information is out. Marc, just let us know what actions you want us to take with these once everything is figured out.
Thank you.
