Yes, everything is temporary in this new intake project.
If it works allright, then it is time to make a final one .
I am especially proud of those 4 covers on the top of the manifold, under what are the 4 middle bolts
that joins the manifold to the engine block.

Can't wait to see it all cleaned up! Did you take those support rods out of the plemun after you welded in the plate?

Just to make sure, nobody thinks a cardboard is strong enough to hold in the plenum,
I made the final plate out of 3 mm aluminum.

Blue smoke came out of the exhaust pipes.
    That means burnt oil.
I took the intake out and had to check the intake gasket.
It was not 100 % "solid".
    I put a new one.
And there was some misaligment in the runners.

I have to cut those intake gaskets bacause of the roller lifters.
Otherwise the roller lifters hit the gasket.

    Now putting things together again.

The new intake for the Holley carb is ready.
I know it looks awful, but it doesn`t bother me none, important is to see if it works or not.
That means , if I can get more hp out of it than the 3-barrel carb version.
Next step is to visit dyno.

I made a plate to devide the plenum.
Intake can be used with or without it.
Let`s see, which way is better.

I guess it is time to give some input what has happened with this project.

It was a mistake to make the plenum bigger.
I went to the dyno and lost some 20 hp.
The plenum was little less than 1 liter , that is like 1 quart.

The first race in this season was 3 weeks ago.
    Everything went quite well.
I did not win, but there was no damage in the motor what so ever.
Only problem was , that I had not enough hp.
    Couple of cars went faster.

    So, what to do next.
I decided to continue with The Holley carb (390 cfm douple bumper), and a new intake for that.
Here is what it looks now.

Hey guys , thanks for your comments , I appreciate them.
"I try to keep my feet on the ground".

To gain some extra hp, today I cut off the upper section of the intake.
    To make the plenum bigger.
Just have to weld those sides closed.
The plenum was a tube and now the volume becomes twice that much.
Easy to do and doesnt take much time.
I have to visit the dyno at least once before the race season starts,
to see the gain of this making.

    Congratulations Suomi racer veekuusi !!!

    AWESOME car !!

FWIW the 1974 Ford 2.8 was good for 240-260 hp with the parts and technology available in the 1988.

GM 2.8 heads have better port design than beloved Ford 2.8
I am not surprised at your dyno numbers and had no doubt about the power you would get and believe you will make more power yet as you continue to develop this package.

My bet is next year you will post dyno sheet of 225 KW

Also by the way I love your car. 1974 Capri was my favorite.

I was content to just read here.....until I found this thread.

I just stumbled across this thread now.

    Great work!

As suggested creating an air gap under the runners of the intake will help with your power goals. The less heated the runners and therefore the air passing through them gets, the more power you can make. Also, once you get a design that works, I strongly suggest building another one out of aluminum, this will also help dissipate the heat.

I'm going to look into that clutch set-up, I'm going to need something like that, or 3 disc for my set-up eventually.
