Wow, so ported (small port) 3100 heads flow about as well stock 3400 heads.

Seems that pedistal "issue" has really cause a larger issue in the end.

That sucks to hear how much of a waste it was to go this route.

Have you considered welding up LX9 head chambers to fit the small bore? I wonder how stock or even mildly ported LX9 heads would work on your engine.

After waiting for the ported heads to arrive for 5 months, sending them back to USA
    is no option.
Who knows how long it would take to get them back , race season would be over .
And would they be any better.
The only option would be , that Wot Tech would send a pair of ported 3.4 heads to me.
For the cost of their own, of course.
As the original agreement was, 3.4 ported heads. Not 3.1 heads.

I visited the flow bench guy today.

The next picture shows the curves of the Wot Tech ported heads and the
curves after me modifying the Wot Tech heads.
Big improvement to the exhaust flow , some improvement to the intake flow.
Intake max valve lift (13 mm) flow was not improved.

I had also flowed one stock 3.4 head, with stock valves.
Max flow is the same with Wot Tech ported 3.1 heads and the stock 3.4 heads.
Big money wasted to the Wot Tech heads.

No where in the actual product description does it say new castings, and even mentions a price difference if cores are sent in. Also, that link is for single bare head from GM. I am sure if someone wanted to pay for them (~$2600 additional, says in the listing "requires 2"), new castings could be used - IF - they are even still available. Automated sites list parts that are NLA, and you won't know until you make the order and it gets kicked back (BTDT).

Attention to detail. They are WOT-Tech heads once we do our work to them. New being the condition we claim them to be when you get them from us. They are not advertised as new cast heads. /story

So far what I have seen, is a set of heads that had some decent work to them, but are less than stellar in some areas. If my business depended on word of mouth, you bet your butt I would be offering another set done right and have the old set shipped back for free. For all the work done in the combustion chamber, why not use LX9 heads and weld up the chambers so there is no overlap? Either way, I would want to make good on the deal and send another set out, and eat the mistake.

Would have taken them back, as we offered, but he chose to modify them much further than we recommended and now they aren't even WOT-Tech heads.

    Hold your horses.
First my friend has to check the valves and the valve seats.
After that , I visit the sama guy , who flow tested the heads.
I let you know , what are the results.

We have here in Finland saying concerning the Russia:
    "Everything is shit except piss".
Although we are the neighbouring country, we have different standards and systems here.
I think , Wot Tech underestimated badly our standards.
I wonder why, they should knew , I would accept only the best possible heads.
And 3400 heads was the original order. According to their internet pages, the ported heads should be new,
the ones I got are used. At least if you pay something like $1500 for the heads (plus extra for the helicoils).
I would not mind if they should have done any other head , but they should have flown better.

Never the mind , I have done now some improvements to the 3100 heads (to make them flow like the early 3400 heads):
    -opened up the exhaust port
-taken away the valve guide from the exhaust port
-opened up the intake valve seat

Some honing left to do and the valve job.
