I was wondering the sizes on TBs for all 3400 and newer 3100s. I keep hearing things about aftermarket TBs. Also i hear the mini vans have bigger ones. what are all the exact sizes and what cars do they come on?
right now i have one from a impala but i wanted a bigger one if i can. whats too big as well. some poeple are saying 62mm is too big. i just want to see what everyone thinks

All 3400s come with a 56mm TB, no matter what platform. Most 3100s come with 52mm TBs, although I think some of the newer ones come with 56mm as well.

Are you sure? My dad has a '02 GP 3100 and it sure is a 52mm. I'm also positive the Malibu kept the 52mm right up to the current model "Classic" LOL

I have never seen one, but have had a lot of people tell me that so maybe they aren't. Just passing what I was told on.

so, does anybody know if the 56mm is a decent upgrade (say for 30 bucks) for a 3100 that is equipped with a 52 mm?

You should compare the hp figures of the motor you're taking it off of, with the hp figures of the car it will be replacing.

I know the newer minivans and Aztek with the 3400 actually put out 10 more horsepower than the Pontiac Grand Am GT does.... kinda strange.. I wonder why they did that? Or if it's maybe tuned at a different HP level?

i think for the money. a 62, or 65mm t-body is worth the money compared to only getting a 56 factory! I bought a 62mm and it's worth every penny!
Ps. does any one know who sells a 65mm t-body?

I've never hurd of the Azteck being 10Hp more, but I've hurd the there are 2 different Hp for the GrandAm 5 Hp difference

no one that I know of, I dont think its possible to port the stock TB that far out. So it would require someone to make a billet 65mm TB. FDP used to make billet 62mm TBs but they closed thier doors.

Im in on a group buy for 62mm TBs (includes a knife edge throttle plate) for the 3100 and 3400 right now if anyone is intrested PM me.

yeah actually the 3400s in the vans all have 185 hp
i think the 180 hp and 175 hp versions are tenuned versions
with the main difference being the exhaust
