Yes PE = Power Enrichment, when you go 70% or more throttle (or wherever it's set at). WOT basically.

DE, This is when you let off the throttle, so you don't get a nice puff of black smoke out the back like old carb'ed cars... And when you are engine braking the PCM will actually pull out all fuel to save fuel as none is needed even to idle the engine as the trans is turning the engine over...

couldn't have said it better myself.

PE and spark will also be dealt with then, assuming you don't run across knock in the process, in which case that needs to be dialed out ASAP.

basically, opening or closing the throttle quickly. due to the way air behaves, quickly opening the throttle will cause a MILD supercharging effect in that air will rush at a much faster speed than one would anticipate into the engine. it only lasts in the duration of mS, but it will be noticable if you're too rich or lean on AE.

DE is a bit tricker, but same concept, just in reverse. harder to tell if it's too rich or lean though since too lean AE will give a hesitation when you give throttle and too rich it will bog, but i'm not sure how to explain the effect of DE on fueling... one of those times where a wideband would be necessary to get perfect. i've never had to play with it myself.
ah, gotcha thanks. I understand the concept.

what about this PE mode i keep reading about? But thats wot tuning and later on right?

Where/when do we start changing spark?

basically, make slow and deliberate throttle adjustments. just decide how far your foot should be on the throttle and keep it there until it's necessary to speed up or slow down. and the throttle changes you do make should be SLOOOOOOW and smooth to remove any kind of AE/DE interference. once you have the whole VE table (or a reasonable amount of it) perfect, then you can work on AE/DE.
Thanks for the tips Robert. I will follow them to a "T".

I haven't heard that term AE/DE thrown around yet, what is that?

No, I don't race it much even when it is running properly.

Well tomorrow I'm going to go and get another log to make sure everything is running as good as it did last time and to see how the Bird likes having it's idle lowered to about 800rpm. Should make that Cam sound even meaner, and i'll try to take another video.

Also going to be plugging a flat tire in preparation for driving it to a shop to have the brake system bled fully which of course is in preparation for getting some logs while driving and then hopefully having a solid enough tune that i can DD this thing without worry.

Is there anything i should know about logging while actually driving? AFAIK the setup and connections remain the same but HOW should i drive to get the best log and for how long? etc.

    thx!

that's how you work it up to perfect, just be sure to be consistent.
