    computer says "System Too Lean"

    What would be the first things to check?

    I'm thinking fuel filter?

    Fuel Filter, Fuel Pressure, fuel pump, then injectors...

      Is it bad for the engine to run a bit lean?

            That could be the reason it says you are lean. It doesn't know whats going on.

              Old sensors are unreliable (rated for what, 50-60k?). Get it changed, reset the code and run it a couple days and check it again.

                Most likely vacuum leak. too much air getting into the system unaccounted for. Had this code the other day and one of the tubes coming out of the intake were unplugged.
