do those make it stiffer dave.

ok went down and did a compression test while i changed the oil on the suabru.

    cyl 1 = 152
    cyl 3 = 160
cyl 5 = battery didnt have enough pep left

    cyl 2= 150
    cyl 4 = 155-158 ish
    cyl 6 = first try 197 second try 189

they all fell within the 150-160 range except cyl #6 which was up there compared to the rest.

i did them all twice except for number 5 which is why the battery died.

i took the 2 springs out of the LT1 lifters and swapped them into my gen3 lifters.. the LT1's are quite a bit taller.

now the engine has more like 7300 miles on it.
i put about 7k on it and changed the oil around 4k everytime german castrol syntehtic 0w30.

Jon took apart one lifter and it looked fine insidie nothing out the ordinary.

the LT1 lifters any different than the 3400 lifters. if i can get something thats a litttle better while its gonna be apart why not right.

ill have to see if i still got tht lifters i took out of the beretta, those things must look like shit. 180k and the inside of the engine was lla black and crap.

i just wish it ran right so i could go get some plates for it and drive it.

I wonder how my 200k+ look inside lol. Well at least my heads intake ports and intake valves are spotless!

    np and thanks

you'd be suprised at the buildup that happens in lifters, the LT1 lifters i took apart had around 100K on them and were filthy and full of crud, i also took apart some older 3400 lifers that had about 30K on them and were pretty nasty as well.

yours should be fine though if the engine has 300 miles on it... mine had 2K and were spotless.

    good luck!

yeah you can hear it a little on yours its not as bad as mine. i expect a little noise with the cam but this is excessive.

ben asked me to do a compression check so when its not raining and raw cold out ill go down and do that.

other than that its gotta be shitty lifters or something, cause everything checked out.

that was also the fantastic stock idle table, i didnt get to change it yet. it wouldnt run with the idle table i was using before i had turned the idle way down for the stock engine.

when we first started it up im like so dude who swapped in the diesel when i wasnt looking.

thanks for the vid. the other video you posted sounds awesome.

how about a video of it running?

i checked mine today after i got the mufflers installed.. it's still a little noisey but not as bad as it was last year. the only difference is the modified lifters.

im not doubting him i just other stuff to worry about than a car im not driving for awhile. the car is kinda the last thing im worried about right now.

i just wanna solve a problem if its there, not drive it and destroy exspensive parts.

I have rebuilt a fair share of these engines with aftermarket cam profiles from mild to wild. More often than not they do this. It is relative to the profile of the cam and the condition/design of the lifter. They do this even on the GEN 1-2 . Crane Cams notoriously do this as well. I even had my '94 Z28 valvetrain make noise when I cammed that. The valvetrain is being moved very fast, it is not a problem.
