I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

I sent the cams out today. Thanks again to ez112, your_I.D., tijuana_no, donk_316, Fierobsessed, and dohcfiend for the contributions. It's most appriciated by Ben and myself, and it got this off the ground. But now we have a new situation.

I shipped the cams Fedex Ground, and because of my profession, they gave me an account with discounted rates, so the total shipping for the cams there and back was $28.14. Paypal took 3.64 for themselves, leaving me with $28.22 of the donations.

I initally wanted to send some '92 cams right away too, but I can't get the gears off and they require them to be removed, so I couldn't do that. So I want to do something with the remaining funds, and I've thought of some ideas:

          1) Save it for shipping for '92 cams once I can get the gears off

          2) Donate it to the site

          3) Put it in a fund for some kind of event

But it's your guys money, so I want your opinions on what to do with it.

as long as you deliver the 96-97 info, you can do as you like with the rest but i would say either 92 cams or donate to 60v6.

for such a niche site 60v6 is becoming top notch even compared to bigger sites. i am sure with more features comes more operating cost. just a little food for thought.

                    92's

Especially if you have the same company degreeing them. It only helps tell the whole story more accuratly.

That's what we'll do then. Now I need to get the cam gears off, but I don't know anyone with a gear puller tool right now. Hopefully I can find one soon and get the 92 cams out to them.

Will a steering wheel puller work with two nuts on the backside? I'm not familiar with the 92 cogs. Autozone has free loaners. U just have to cover the tool up front. When u return it the refund your money.

Unfortunately no. It's got big jaws and a wide foot on it to hold the locking ring in place while it pulls the cam off. Terrible design. Which is why it's best to switch to 94 or higher cogs.

I highly recommend not doing that ever again. Its going to suck in 10 years when all I can find are engine pieces because people didn't care about any other parts off the motor aside from what they needed at the time.
