      Hmmm... A hair more duration....

That would explain why the 95+ idle a little smoother, and why they don't make much more power even with a better intake and exhaust.

Awesome work, folks! You guys rock!

Well there you have it. By the slightest of margins, the old ones are better, if you can call it that. More overlap helps certain things, I think I'll stay with my good ole 91-95 cams for now. But those 96s will definitely be up for a regrind.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

Yes I did. Im going to have to disagree with the centerlines this place has given us. GM states 91-93 are 111 and 112 centerlines. Ill readjust them and see what it comes up to. This will need to be done for the 96 cams as well.

Hmm... something's bothering me here... How on earth is the 0.050 specs showing the intake valve opening BEFORE the seat-to-seat times?!?

The numbers don't smell right. I think I'm going to do some cam timing on my own with my 94 and a degree wheel.

Yep, it's decided. I want to go with the 4-exhaust cam route, but the timing info that I have here just won't cut it to figure out appropriate timing.

So, I'm going to index a '94 motor with stock cams.

If anyone wants to tip the machinist, I might be persuaded to do the same thing with a set of 92 cams...

Not that I think there's a hell of a lot of difference.

So, I gotta go out and buy meself another dial micrometer

GM offered 14 different set of cams for the LQ1 over the years...so likely there is at least a small difference between every year and maybe within the year or make.

What was the casting code on the cams that got spec'd

I'm not so convinced; different casting codes could mean as much as a different cam profile, or as little as a trace number for different foundries.

I've got the carriers on my bench. I'll be posting up my own findings later.
