Geeze man. Every time I see this thread has been posted to by you I hope it's you saying you figured it out, and all is well now. I feel for you man. Having something you put together like that not work right just plain sucks. I wish you lived across town or something so I could come help you out with it.

no dice unless theres subframe droppage i barely got the engine mount off the cover.

and yeah its a 1357 i took pics off all the shit beforehand.

valvesprings are the comp cams ones from the store here

stock seats and the comp cams locks and keeps ben sells here too.
rest of the shit is stock pre99 timing setup including the guide chain and sprockets all GM parts.

eventually im gonna have to put the hood back on and be depressed im kinda diggin the no hood look. the stock hood is a heavy sob. i forgot to take it off before i had the engine 90% of the way out, was kind of intersting to take off with the engine and hoist in the way

Grind # is engraved on the end of each cam along with the LSA.

what spring seats are you using?

I used the stock ones with the Comp 26915 springs, very tight fit and they were noisey for the first few minutes... till the paint wore off. I can still hear the valvetrain noise coming through the firewall while driving, it's way louder then stock.

in the end, the only thing i can think of is the geometry is off somehow.. are you damn sure that's the 1357 grind? Mistakes do happen, did Ben give you a cam card with it?

I know you don't want to take it apart again but maybe putting a dial indicator on both an intake and exhaust lifter and rotating the engine around would give you an idea of the lobe lift. Or pulling the cam and measuring the base circle, i have measurements from my cam, stock and the 1617 grind. You may be able to pull the timing cover and slide the cam out enough to see the 1st lobe and get a measurement w/o pulling the engine.. i'd have to look in the bay of my GAGT to confirm though.

ahh shit asking the hard questions now makin me think

38-40 at idle which is 1k before it was oil pressure about 40-50 at 1200rpm.

theres oil in the pushrods cause when i swapped the non stock back in i stood them on end on the plenum and they dripped oil out .

haven pulled a valve cover when running yet up until recent ive had the heater core metal hardline running infront of the valve cover, which i repalaced with a hose routed away from the valve cover.

FWIW theres oil in the tip of the rocker so there must be something getting up there ill check on friday.

I'm too lazy to look back 15 pages but how is your oil pressure?

have you pulled a valve cover and started the engine to verify that there is oil coming through the pushrods?

only if she was pre 18 again not now. back then i would have hit that like a screendoor in a hurricane.

sprucegt the egr disable will only help me if i actually drive the car, the way it is now with the noise that wont happen.

It's probably resting on top of the trans between the block or oil pan LOL
I had the handle for my tap set fall down in the lifter valley in a 3400 and drop down into the oil pan ounce Luckily the pan had to come off anyways to replace the gasket.

and for the record i was running the timing thats in the pcm now for well over a year and it sounded fine nor knock except for when it shifted to 2nd gear but thats probably cause of the solid trans mount.

i find it kinda funny that if it is indeed the lifters that it does it with both sets.

the noise is coming from the middle of the engine.
    It was just an idea.

theres definately nothing in the engine.

only had the top end off and no bolts or anything foreign went into the engine.

if there was something in there the engine would have ended quicker than britney spears's career.
